Three recognitions at the Ecuadorian wood industry association's 50th anniversary
QUITO, Ecuador — October 29, 2026 — BALSASUD S.A., the Ecuadorian balsa wood core operation of CoreLite, received three recognitions from AIMA (Asociacion Ecuatoriana de la Industria Forestal y de la Madera - the Ecuadorian Forestry and Wood Industry Association) at the association's 50th anniversary event in Quito, including a joint recognition with FSC® Ecuador for responsible sourcing and traceability of forest materials.
The joint AIMA and FSC® Ecuador recognition cites CoreLite's commitment to responsible sourcing and traceability, demonstrated by maintaining its FSC® Chain of Custody certification (license FSC®-C115570), and its contribution to strengthening a responsible and sustainable forest sector in Ecuador.
AIMA separately recognized CoreLite in two categories: Confianza que Construye — Trust that Builds — and Protagonistas de Nuestro Crecimiento, Protagonists of our Growth.
Chain of Custody certification documents the path of forest material from its source through every stage of processing and transfer. For balsa core destined for marine, wind, rail and industrial composite structures, that documentation is increasingly a condition of supply rather than a differentiator: buyers in the European Union and elsewhere are being asked, by their own customers and by regulators, to show where the wood in their products originated.
"Our customers are asked where their material comes from, and increasingly they have to prove it. Chain of Custody is how we answer that for them, and it only works if it is maintained every year, not framed on a wall." said Paul Lewis, Managing Director, CoreLite.
AIMA marked its 50th anniversary in 2026, under the theme Lo que haces hoy, construye el mañana — What you do Today Builds Tomorrow.
